"How does one become a butterly? -
You must desire to fly so much that you
give up being a caterpillar."

Therapeutic Love

By Sacinandana Swami

See the man standing quietly
in the marketplace of love
with a burning torch in his hand.
Fools laugh at him
because he just burnt down
the house of his selfish desires.
He is unable to explain anything
- immersed in an ocean of bliss.

With motives or without motives,
one who turns to Krsna
will be given the highest wealth
because the Lord patiently overlooks
the faults of his worshippers.

His thoughts are very kind:
This person has turned to Me
but begs for poison instead of nectar.
What a fool!
But I know what is beneficial
and what is harmful.
And I am his well-wisher.
How can I knowingly administer poison?
Instead, I will give him something more with what he asks for - the treasure of Divine Love…
And thus make him gradually forget his desire for sense gratification.
Moreover, I will completely destroy his love for the things of the senses…

What a merciful, expert therapist!

(Based on Chaitanya Charitamrta Madhya Lila)
