Alone With You

By Sacinandana Swami

I wanted to come to your house alone,

to be with you, without anyone disturbing our joy.
But when I walked, I stumbled,
and when I ran,
someone stepped out the darkness
and crudely held me back.

When I called for help,
he added his own loud voice to every word of mine,
totally changing what I wished to express.
It’s my own little ego, my Lord,
who does not know his limits.

I cannot be myself with him nearby.
So please, allow me to come to your house
when I am alone.
